Today I came across a news story in the Globe & Mail about a SaR tech based out of CFB Trenton who died on a rescue mission in Igloolik, Nunavut.
This story broke my heart and although I was reading through the article while at my desk at work, I wanted to take a moment to recognize that while our soldiers overseas in ‘active warzones’ receive praise and kudos for their hard work and sacrifice there are many soldiers doing heroic work here on our home turf that deserve a pat on the back too.
I encourage you to give your soldier a hug today for the hard work and sacrifice they offer to their country each and every day.

RIP Sergeant Janick Gilbert
